This memorial bench is a tribute to the life of Eric. Eric raced his bikes many times at Bonneville and ultimately set a land speed record in ElMirage CA. His passion for speed led to his position as the back-up driver of The North American Eagle jet car (as pictured in the back rest of the bench).
He was always seen with his companion Bonnie (short for Bonneville), so we thought it was fitting to have them together on the bench. Eric was the man beneath the horse head mask that popped up in the craziest places throughout the years and even inspired his famous tattoo.
Eric was in the History Channel feature titled “speed demons” and can also be seen in the Jesse Combs documentary “Fastest woman on Earth.” Eric’s record setting bike is on display at The National Automobile Museum in Reno, NV.
The great food at the salt flats cafe became part of the annual Bonneville experience, and a must stop every time passing through Wendover, and the perfect place for the bench!
